Thanks to the Urban County Council, ProgressLex has been provided with the final draft of Angelou Economics’ Market Assessment, which is the first of 6 deliverables they’re working on as a part of their project with Commerce Lexington and LFUCG.
While there’s a bit of stock language in there — reused from reports for other cities — most of it appears to be a fairly frank analysis of Lexington’s advantages (highly educated, low unemployment) and shortcomings (limited start up capital, perception outside Kentucky).
There’s a lot of meat in there, it’s a lot to digest. And while I haven’t yet digested all of it, my initial impressions are that while much of it seems like common sense, it’s good to see it all in one place. But the most important question remains: Now that we know ourselves, what do we do with this information to grow smartly? I can assume that’s what Angelou’s working on next.
So, enjoy, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Ben – appreciate the comments regarding the draft report. Just a note – this is still very much a working draft. We will be posting the final version of the reports at the project website: http://www.AdvanceLexington.com.
Thanks,
